What Are The Different Bath Sizes & Dimensions?

Posted on 28 March 2019

A standard bath in the UK measures 1700mm in length and 700mm in width. However, there are many different types of baths available that come in various dimensions to accommodate the size of your bathroom. Here are some bath dimensions and sizes to help you choose one that is perfect for your needs.

How To Measure Your Bath Correctly

Before you decide what size you’d like your bath to be, you must first of all measure the existing bath.  To do this, stand by the side of it (as if you’re about to get in) and measure the distance from the left side of the bath to the right, this will give you the length. Repeat this process going from the back to the front of the bath, this will give you the width. To record the height, measure from the bathroom floor to the top of the bath itself, don’t measure the inside of the bath. You should now have all the measurements you need.

What Size Is A Standard Bath?

1700mm long x 700mm wide

If you have a bathroom of average size (2.3mx2.7m), a standard bath would leave approximately 1 metre of clear space. Although this is dependent on the orientation of the bath.

1400mm-1600mm long x 700mm wide

If you don’t have enough space for a standard bath, a small bath would most likely suit you better. Small baths generally measure between 1400mm-1600mm in length. The width will usually stay the same as a standard size bath (700mm). However, if you have very limited space, perhaps consider a corner bath.

How Big Is A Large Bath? | Large Bath Dimensions

1800mm long and upwards

Humans have generally grown in height over the past one hundred years, resulting in taller doorways and higher ceilings throughout modern buildings and homes. This doesn’t exclude our baths from becoming larger either.

large bathtub1800mm equates to around 5 foot 9 inches, according to the ONS, this is the average height of a man in the UK. The average height for a woman in the UK is 5 foot 3 inches, therefore, a large bath would provide more than enough space to spread out and relax.

If you have the luxury of space in your bathroom, why not treat yourself to a bath of a larger size?
